Facilitation

Facilitation

When you and your staff leave a meeting, there should be a sense of purpose and accomplishment. Instead, everyone comes out feeling frustrated and confused. That’s not good for morale or productivity.

In most meetings, a few strong personalities dominate because they are bold, passionate, and outspoken. Participants who are quiet or intimidated by their peers or superiors may refrain from sharing their ideas.

An experienced facilitator draws insights from people who are reserved and helps the team better fulfill its objectives through thoughtful discussions, idea sharing, and decision-making. When everyone in the meeting contributes, the entire team becomes more productive and morale improves.

Working with a Professional Facilitator

Facilitation is the art of guiding a team to meet its goals. A professional facilitator comes in with a clear objective and an impartial perspective, and then guides the team to successful collaboration.

As your professional facilitator, I can make meetings more successful and productive:

  • Identify Goals: I review the team’s objectives in advance and come to the meeting with a solid understanding of what needs to be accomplished.
  • Establish Expectations: At the start of a session I use ice-breakers to encourage everybody to participate and to help people get to know each other enough so they’re comfortable sharing with one another.
  • Develop a Plan: It’s not enough to set goals, I also establish a coherent plan for the team to reach its goals.
  • Determine Logistics: In order to ensure that everyone’s needs are met and all necessary supplies are on hand, I make recommendations for the meeting’s location, environment, equipment, and other materials.
  • Coaching the Team Leader: Business leaders perform better when they have a clear understanding of how their behavior will impact a session. I help leaders affirm and challenge their teams.

My facilitation services help teams accomplish their goals, especially teams of people from different levels in the organization or representatives from different departments. Here are a few examples of the types of meetings and events that I facilitate:

  • Vision and Mission Development for boards and executive teams.
  • Strategic Planning and Implementation for executive teams, corporate groups, and project teams.
  • Process Development and Improvement across company or departmental boundaries.

My facilitation services help business leaders and their teams reach their goals, raise morale, and achieve overall better job performance.
